But I thought a web site is as easy as 1-2-3? What about those template programs?

Designing a custom professional web presence is not always as simple as 1-2-3. Sure there are templates out there that your can purchase and build your own web site. They even say that it's simple and you can have a site up in seconds. Those don't communicate the unique business that you are nor do they help you to stand out from your competitors. You don't have a cookie cutter business, so why would you want a cookie cutter solution!

During our initial consultation, we will sit down and discuss everything that you want to have in your web site AND everything that you don't want. After the initial consultation, we will have a direction to head for a design concept and a pretty good idea of how long it will take us to reach our destination. The estimate we give you will be based on our initial consultation. Once we agree to work together, we can begin the process of designing your site, which I've outlined below.

Design
First we must take an inventory of what text and artwork (graphics) that you have and what it is that you need. Blu Dove Designs can help you write the copy, if necessary. However we prefer that you write it because you are the one most familiar with your business. We can help you edit the copy so that it best utilizes keywords and keyword phrases and communicates clearly.

This stage also includes development of the layout/site map: How many pages? How will they link up? What do you want the menu to look like? Do you need a search option? What about the banner at the top of the page? Do you need a photo gallery? How about a shopping cart? There are so many decisions to make... but don't worry, we will guide you through each one and develop a design that matches the vision for your company and functions the way you need it to.

Production
Once we have all the artwork and the text, we assemble everything into web pages and upload it to a test site. This stage requires attention to detail and patience. Building web sites are not an exact science and frequently, as with most technology, bugs have to be worked out so please be patient with us.

Troubleshooting/Pre-Launch
The moment of truth... the most exciting step of the process is seeing your business on the world wide web and knowing that anyone can access it with the click of a button 24 hours a day/7 days a week.

We take great pleasure in being the detail-oriented, perfectionists that we are, however we are the first ones to admit that even we are not perfect. If you know technology and humanity like we do, you know there can be small glitches. So before telling your clients, friends and family that you've finally made it... we spend the time to troubleshoot the site. This means that we check the site over, double-check spelling, make sure all the links work properly and everything appears the way that we planned it to look. We rely on you to help us catch anything we missed. This is your opportunity to add/change/delete anything we've created.

Search Engine Optimization
You want people to find you on the world wide web, right? Of course, you do... a beautiful, professional, well functioning web site is useless if no one can find you when they search for your product or service.

There's an answer to that - it's called Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and there is profession dedicated to making your site search engine friendly.
